Drone crop spraying for Queensland and New South Wales
Wet cane paddocks in the Burdekin, cotton on the Downs, sorghum on the Liverpool Plains, macadamias around Bundaberg. When the ground rig can’t get in, or the job is too small or awkward for a plane, a drone often can.

Where drones earn their place
Drones are not a replacement for a boom or an ag plane on every job. They shine on wet ground, small or irregular blocks, steep country, tree crops, spot spraying and work close to sensitive areas where precision matters more than speed.
Under APVMA policy, applying pesticide by RPAS is treated as aerial application, so the label’s aerial directions, including buffer zones, droplet size, water rate and release height, apply (APVMA).
Licensing, without the badges
Commercial drone spraying in Australia involves CASA certification plus state chemical licensing. We will show current licences with every quote rather than putting logos here.
Regions
Five growing districts we know well, each with its own season and quirks.
Crops
Broadacre and horticulture, east of the Divide and beyond.
FAQ
Do I need a licence to spray with a drone on my own farm?
CASA lets landholders fly 25 to 150 kg drones over their own land with a RePL and no ReOC, if unpaid. State rules may still apply: in Queensland, aerial distribution needs a pilot chemical rating licence regardless of land ownership.
Can any chemical be applied by drone?
Only if all the label’s aerial directions can be met. The APVMA treats RPAS as aircraft for spray drift purposes.
How much does drone spraying cost per hectare?
It depends on area, water rate and travel. We quote in writing.
Is a drone faster than a ground rig?
Usually not on big open paddocks. Drones win on wet ground, small blocks and precision work.
How a job runs
- Send the property, crop, area and timing.
- We check the label, airspace, sensitive areas and neighbours.
- We confirm the plan in writing.
- Spray day, then a full application record.
